Living on the East Coast, close to the beach, I regularly see lighthouses. Although most of them have become tourist attractions, they once kept sailors safe. When dark clouds fill the sky, waves crash against the rocks, and visibility becomes limited, lighthouses shine steadily through the darkness, a guiding light in the storm. Lighthouses don’t stop working because of the storm, but remain fixed, dependable and trustworthy.
Just like God’s promises.
Paul wrote to the Hebrews to encourage them as they faced challenges, persecution, and uncertainty. Some felt tempted to give up on their faith, but Paul reminds them, and us, to cling tightly to hope in Jesus. Biblical hope has confident trust in God’s character and His promises. We serve an unchanging Lord who never breaks His word.
Some storms may make us question the Savior. When prayers seem unanswered and the future feels uncertain, we may doubt. But Paul calls us to remain steadfast, not because we understand everything, but because we know the One who holds everything together. When our grip on hope feels weak, the Lord’s faithfulness remains strong. He always fulfills His promises in His perfect way and timing.
Like a lighthouse, storms don’t shake God’s promises. Life’s hurricanes may shake our emotions, challenge our faith, and test our patience, but the Lord’s faithfulness never wavers. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can hold tightly to hope, knowing He will guide us safely through every season.
Set your sights on the promises of the Lord. Like a sailor on the ocean, stay on course by keeping your eye on the lighthouse, let divine light lead you. Though the storm may rage around you, Jesus gives you the strength to walk on the water if you focus on Him. God’s guiding light will lead you to glory; follow Him.
