Imagine walking along the shoreline with a friend who constantly looks over their shoulder, worried about every sound, crashing wave, and shadow. Meanwhile, you walk confidently beside them, taking in the ocean breeze and the beauty of the horizon, respectful of the sea, but not controlled by fear.
Walking with the Lord can give us confidence to walk boldly. Trusting in His ways, we can move forward with confidence, knowing He guides our steps, even when we cannot see the entire path ahead. Unlike our friend, who fears everything, we don’t have to flee because righteousness through Jesus makes us bold as lions.
Solomon contrasts two different ways of living; those who live with a guilty conscience often carry fear, worry, and uncertainty. Even when no real threat exists, they feel anxious because they lack peace within their hearts.
On the other hand, those who walk closely with God can live with confidence because they know they stand on a firm foundation. Christ followers experience fear and face difficulties, but they do so with courage rooted in faith, integrity, and trust in the Lord.
Being “bold as a lion” doesn’t mean loud, aggressive, or fearless behavior in our strength. Rather, divine boldness has a quiet confidence that comes from God’s presence in our lives. When we align our hearts with the Savior’s, we can face challenges with courage because our security rests in Him, not our circumstances.
Divine strength comes from the Savior. When we ground our lives in Him, we will discover boldness like a lion. Whatever waves come our way, they won’t topple us. The righteousness we receive through faith will give us the courage to walk boldly into the future, knowing that whatever comes our way, God will help us deal with it. With the Lord by our side, we have nothing to fear.
