When hurricane season starts in Virginia, pictures of massive storms flood the airwaves. Massive waves crash against the coast, strong winds sweep across the beach, and the ocean stretches endlessly toward the horizon. The sheer force of nature leaves you in awe as houses crash into the ocean, cars fly, and trees break like twigs.
Yet the God who created the ocean has more strength than the ocean itself. The waves obey His commands, the tides move according to His design, and every grain of sand exists because He willed it into being. A hurricane’s mighty power gives us a glimpse of the Lord’s eternal power.
Throughout creation, we see the Lord’s work. From the vast oceans to towering mountains to the intricate design of a seashell, everything points to Intelligent Design, whose power has no beginning and no end. While we cannot see God with our physical eyes, we can see the evidence of His greatness all around us.
The same power that spoke the universe into existence sustains creation every moment of every day. God’s power works in the lives of believers, strengthening, guiding and transforming them. When we feel weak, uncertain, or overwhelmed, we can rest in the truth that our circumstances don’t limit the Creator’s power.
Nothing diminishes the Lord’s power. His eternal power can overcome any difficulty. The Creator of the stars and seas can handle every detail of our lives. The Savior can handle whatever problem we face; in Him, we find victory.
The One who commands the oceans and hung the stars in the sky holds life securely in His hands. God’s power never fades, fails, or runs out. With every breath we take, we inhale His strength from the beauty of creation. In Him, we have all we need to face the storm, and find His peace that comes with connection to the Savior.
