Two-minute read.

At the end of a perfect beach day, imagine sitting in comfy chairs on the sand, watching the sun begin its descent behind the horizon. Beautiful colors paint the sky, gentle waves roll onto the shore, and a cool breeze brushes across your face. Taking a deep breath, you can’t help but mutter, “This is beautiful.”
Similarly, God looked upon His completed creation and declared it “very good!” The Lord delighted in what He made. Every wave, grain of sand, seashell, and ocean creature reflects His handiwork. As you admire the beauty of the beach, you see a glimpse of the goodness God declared over His creation right from the beginning.
Our heavenly Father stepped back from His work and made a simple statement. With intelligent design, the Lord made the world exactly as He intended, reflecting His glory, creativity, and love. Although sin later brought brokenness into creation, we can still see glimpses of God’s original design all around us.
In addition to admiring the Lord’s goodness in creation, Genesis reminds us of God’s gifts. Too often, we focus on what we don’t have rather than what we do, but the Creator wants us to pause and notice the blessings he has already provided. Gratitude grows when we intentionally look for evidence of His goodness.
As you sit by the shore and watch the sun dance over the water, let your heart rest in God’s goodness. Admire the work of the Creator’s hand, notice the details in the seashell, the multitude of colors in the sky, and the beauty of the waves as they slowly ebb and flow. The Lord’s handiwork takes our breath away when we sit and allow ourselves to bask in His creation.
God designed the world with care and purpose. And when He finished, the Lord declared His work “very good.” The same Creator who crafted the ocean lovingly created you, and when He looks at His handiwork, He sees something precious.
