God’s Representative

Spread the love

Two-minute read.

Years ago, while visiting the beach with family, one of the children wandered down the shore, looking for seashells. When we couldn’t see her, we sought the lifeguard for help. Ever vigilant, he helped us locate her within minutes. Lifeguards watch the beach carefully, staying alert for lost children, warning swimmers about strong currents, and rescuing those in need; every task they do matters because people’s safety depends on it.

Some responsibilities seem small, but each one has purpose.

Paul reminds the Colossians, and us, that every part of life matters to God, not just the big spiritual moments. The words we speak, the way we treat people, the work we do, even our everyday routines, can reflect Jesus.

Doing something “in the name of the Lord Jesus” means living in a way that honors Him. Showing kindness, integrity, love, patience, and gratitude both in public and private moments matters to God. The Lord cares as much about the attitude behind our actions as the actions themselves.

Paul also emphasizes thankfulness. Grateful hearts change how we approach life. Instead of seeing daily tasks as burdens, we begin to see them as opportunities to serve God and bless others.

Like lifeguards who pay attention to every task, even the smallest ones, we know that everything we do matters. Sometimes we think only the “big” things matter to God, but Paul reminds us that every word and action matters. Whether we encourage a friend, help someone in need, or work quietly behind the scenes during stressful moments, we can honor Jesus through it all.

Like sunlight reflecting across the ocean, even small acts done with love and gratitude can shine brightly.

Journal Questions:

  • What daily habits or routines could you begin doing more intentionally for God?
  • Are your words reflecting kindness and encouragement to those around you?
  • What is one ordinary moment today where you can choose gratitude instead of frustration?

Beach Vibe:

Let your life shine like sunlight dancing on the waves, reflecting Jesus in every word, every step, and every moment.
