As waves roll steadily onto the shore and seabirds glide overhead, the sky fills with brilliant colors as the sun rises above the horizon. Taking in the scene, it becomes a living reminder of Nehemiah 9:6: the same God who created the heavens, the earth, and the seas gives life to everything. Just as the ocean constantly moves because the Lord sustains it, He upholds our lives with His faithful hand each day.
Nehemiah declares God’s greatness, sovereignty and sustaining power. As the Israelites gathered in repentance and worship, they acknowledged the Lord’s power before reflecting on what He had done for them.
“You alone are Lord,’ the people proclaimed His sovereignty as they worshipped Him, acknowledging His unique authority and supremacy. No one can rival God’s power, wisdom or glory. In a world filled with competing voices and priorities, Nehemiah calls believers to place God at the center of their lives.
From the highest heavens to the depths of the seas, everything exists because God spoke it into being. Creation reminds us of the intelligent design of a loving Father, intentionally working to bring life into existence.
And what the Lord creates, He sustains.
Nehemiah invites us to respond with humility, gratitude, and worship. Remembering the Lord’s work and His sustenance helps our worries become smaller in comparison to His greatness.
When worries begin to overwhelm you, imagine looking out across the water. The God who commands the tides, fills the oceans, and holds the stars in place cares for you. Creation’s beauty and power point back to the Savior, inviting you to trust Him, worship Him, and rest in His loving care.
Each wave that rolls onto the shore whispers, “You alone are Lord; You give life to all.” Let the majesty of God’s creation remind you of the One who sustains you today.
