<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nDaily Reading:<\/strong> Ezekiel 45:13-46:24<\/strong><\/a>, 1 Peter 1:13-2:10<\/strong><\/a>, Psalm 119:33-48<\/strong><\/a>, Proverbs 28:11<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cA rich man is wise in his\u00a0own eyes,\u00a0but a poor man who has understanding\u00a0will find him out.\u201d Prov. 28:11<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Self-deceit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Money doesn\u2019t make a person wise, but some think it does. Just because someone has a huge bank account doesn\u2019t mean they have wisdom. Putting on an act, others can see through the pretention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Small things give away the truth. Chatting with our waitress one night, she told us how she mispronounced a nearby town, but no one corrected her. \u201cThey knew you weren\u2019t local. Isn\u2019t it funny the things that give us away? And I would have corrected you.\u201d\u00a0 Smiling, she agreed and thanked me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just like the waitress\u2019s mispronunciation of \u201cGloucester\u201d gave her away, so did the rich person\u2019s actions. Unwittingly, they show their foolishness in some tiny way that others spot immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eliminate self-deceit by becoming more self-aware. Ask those you trust for feedback on blind spots in your life. Others can see what we can\u2019t, and listening to their words helps us become more honest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Poor men can spot a poser full of self-deceit.<\/p>\n\n\n Lord, help us see the areas of self-deceit in our lives.
