<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nDaily Reading:<\/strong> Numbers 26:52-28:15<\/strong><\/a>, Luke 3:1-22<\/strong><\/a>, Psalm 61:1-8<\/strong><\/a>, Proverbs 11:16-17<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cA man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.\u201d Prov. 11:17<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kindness benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Married to the kindest person I know; he\u2019s helped me become nicer. Bitter and resentful, my life didn\u2019t go as planned; I didn\u2019t realize its impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar,\u201d Mom often said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People around me could see the bitter root planted in my childhood as I tried to make sense of my dad\u2019s illness and death, causing me to alienate people from my life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe only one you\u2019re hurting is yourself,\u201d Mom would say when I reacted with meanness instead of kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thankfully, coming back to Jesus, and applying His principles to my life, helped reveal the bitterness and remove it over time. And marrying the love of my life, kindness personified, helped me become even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cruelty doesn\u2019t win respect, but kindness does. Everyone has pain; mean actions don\u2019t help. But acts of love and kindness cause people to blossom and grow. You have a choice, kindness or cruelty; both come with consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n Lord, forgive us for responding cruelly. Please help always respond with Christ\u2019s loving-kindness.
