{"id":6950,"date":"2022-12-01T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=6950"},"modified":"2022-09-15T11:11:41","modified_gmt":"2022-09-15T16:11:41","slug":"propitiation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2022\/12\/01\/propitiation\/","title":{"rendered":"PROPITIATION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Propitiation.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6951\" width=\"328\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Propitiation.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Propitiation-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Propitiation-768x644.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Daniel+8%3A1-27+&amp;version=ESV\">Daniel 8:1-27 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+John+2%3A1-17+&amp;version=ESV\">1 John 2:1-17 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+120%3A1-7+&amp;version=ESV\">Psalm 120:1-7 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+28%3A25-26&amp;version=ESV\">Proverbs 28:25-26 ESV<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cHe is the <em>propitiation<\/em> for our sins, and not for ours only but&nbsp;also for the sins of the whole world.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+John+2%3A2&amp;version=ESV\">1 John 2:2 ESV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HILASMOS (2434): <\/strong>\u201cSignifies \u201can expiation, a means whereby sin is covered and remitted.\u201d\u00a0 It is used in the NT of Christ Himself as \u201cthe propitiation,\u201d in 1 Jn 2:2 signifying that He Himself, through Him alone, the violated holiness and righteousness of God by man\u2019s sin has means through which God shows mercy to the sinner who believes on Christ as the One thus provided.\u00a0 Provision is made for the whole world, so that no one is, by divine predetermination, excluded from the scope of God\u2019s mercy; the efficacy of the \u201cpropitiation,\u201d however, is made actual for those who believe.\u201d<a id=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Covered sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christ alone covered our sins.&nbsp; When Jesus died, He did so for everyone.&nbsp; Anyone who trusts God\u2019s Son will have their sins forgiven and find eternal life.&nbsp; You can\u2019t receive the gift Jesus offers if you don&#8217;t believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our actions come from the thoughts we have.&nbsp; What we believe reveals itself in how we live.&nbsp; Receiving the forgiveness Christ offers gives us the freedom to live our lives without condemnation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Live free.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place your faith in Jesus; you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.&nbsp; When Christ died on the cross, He did it for you.&nbsp; Knowing we can do nothing to save ourselves from our sinful nature, God provided a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Believe Jesus lived, died, and rose again.&nbsp; Accept the grace God offers through His Son.&nbsp; No one will ever completely understand the workings of the Creator.&nbsp; We don\u2019t need to know everything to believe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faith requires movement; taking the first step towards Jesus begins the journey.&nbsp; God loves you, no matter what lies in your past. When we start to follow Christ, our actions change.&nbsp; Turning from our past sins, like the adulterous woman in John\u2019s gospel, we strive to sin no more by no longer doing what we used to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I turned my life over to Christ in my late 20s, returning to my childhood faith, I stopped having inappropriate relationships with men, focused on Biblically handling my finances, and worked to develop healthy relationships by dealing with my issues.&nbsp; Something I continue to do today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our journey doesn\u2019t end just because we place our faith in Jesus.&nbsp; No, choosing to live life like Christ begins the trip of a lifetime, one that never ends as we experience eternal life with Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"_ftn1\" href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> Strong, J., &amp; Strong, J.
