Performance of service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul, the presumed author of Hebrews, talks about angels in today\u2019s passage.\u00a0 Heavenly beings in the Bible witness for God and don\u2019t draw attention to themselves.\u00a0 Angels have different purposes: bring messages<\/em> (Lk 1:26-33<\/a>), praise God<\/em> (2:13\u201314<\/a>;\u00a0Heb 1:6<\/a>;\u00a0Rev 5:11\u201312<\/a>), serve God\u2019s people for Him (Mt 4:11<\/a>;\u00a0Heb 1:14<\/a>),<\/em> <\/strong>protect and care for God\u2019s people<\/em> (Mt 18:10<\/a>;\u00a0Lk 4:10<\/a>;\u00a0Acts 12:7\u201310<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God sends spiritual help in our times of need.\u00a0 Most often, we probably don\u2019t even notice the divine intervention.\u00a0 One of my favorite fiction books, This Present Darkness<\/a><\/em>,[1]<\/a> helped me understand spirituality.\u00a0 Written by a pastor, the fictional work brings a fresh perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spiritual battle.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding the spiritual side of life challenges me.  Recognizing forces exist beyond our comprehension, the ever-raging battle for souls seems hard to grasp. Not understanding doesn\u2019t make spirituality nonexistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my flight attendant training, I learned the physics of how airplanes fly.  I still don\u2019t understand how colossal metal tubes spiral hundreds of miles an hour through the air.  But planes still fly, currently one of the safest ways to travel.  I don\u2019t have to understand it to believe it, nor do you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,\u201d
declares the Lord. \u201cAs the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.\u201d (Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV<\/a>)<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spiritual battles rage we know nothing about from our worldly perspective.  I don\u2019t understand the logistics of how a plane flies, but I know they work.  And I trust God\u2019s word; I don\u2019t need to know everything; I can trust Him with what I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
