To be (mentally disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intens. To interest oneself in (with concern or obedience).&nbsp; Col 3:2, set your affection.\u201d<a id=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Exercise the mind<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf you\u2019d stop and think once in a while, you wouldn\u2019t get into so much trouble,\u201d<\/em> Mom.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My mother told me to stop and think because of my actions.\u00a0 In other words, my movements indicated a lack of thought.\u00a0 When I overspent on my credit card, I did it impulsively.\u00a0 Breaking my foot because I kicked a chair in anger revealed an emotional reaction I didn\u2019t control.\u00a0 Wrecking my car because I fought with a boyfriend showed a lack of priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul\u2019s telling the Colossians to stop and think about their thoughts.\u00a0 They say they follow Jesus, but their actions, which come from thoughts, don\u2019t align with their words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Stop and think.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about where you focus your thoughts.&nbsp; Ask yourself questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cWhat do I spend the most time thinking about every day?\u201d<\/li><li>Are my thoughts positive or negative?<\/li><li>How much do I think about Jesus before I react to a situation?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the things which genuinely helps me the most, and I do not do it enough, happens when I think about Jesus first.&nbsp; If I take time, before I do anything else, to ask myself, \u201cWhat would Jesus do?\u201d I stop and think.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a moment of crisis, when my emotions overwhelm me, I struggle to stay focused on Jesus.&nbsp; My mind races to the worst-case scenario so quickly that it scares me.&nbsp; Trying to reign in those thoughts, capturing them, and refocusing on Jesus takes extreme effort.&nbsp; Sometimes I fail; other times, I don\u2019t.&nbsp; But I do know the more I try, the better I do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Jesus takes practice.&nbsp; We have to stop and think about our thoughts.&nbsp; We can\u2019t capture what we don\u2019t know.&nbsp; But when we take time to think about our thoughts, then refocus them on Jesus, we\u2019ll experience peaceful minds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our actions reflect our thoughts.&nbsp; When we focus our minds on Jesus, our actions will reflect Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"_ftn1\" href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> Strong, J., &amp; Strong, J.
