Daily Verse: <\/strong>\u201cI repeat, let no one think me foolish<\/em>. But even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little.\u201d (2 Corinthians 11:16 ESV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foolish boasting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul faces the Corinthian\u2019s determination to compare him to his rivals, the false apostles.  Although claiming to follow Christ, the aggressive nature of the deceptors impressed the Corinthians more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ironically, Paul can claim the same things as the false teachers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I.\u201d (2 Corinthians 11:22 ESV<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After establishing the similarities, Paul lists the differences.  In his efforts to share the gospel, Paul endured imprisonment, beatings, and near death.   Paul boasts about his weakness, acknowledging God\u2019s power in his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.  The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.\u201d (2 Corinthians 11:30 ESV<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

God knows.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

False teachers still exist, aggressively trying to lure people from Jesus.  As representatives of Christ, boasting about God\u2019s work in our lives becomes our best defense. Honesty about our weaknesses glorifies God and shines a light on His strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People like to boast and compare.\u00a0 Dealing with misguided beliefs challenges anyone, even Paul.\u00a0 But if we stay focused on God\u2019s work in our lives, boasting about Him, we\u2019ll navigate difficult conversations well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connect with others through honest conversations, boasting about your weaknesses.\u00a0 Find ways to share Christ\u2019s love by living your life transparently in front of others.\u00a0 Wherever God guides, He provides, especially when faced with false teachings that steer people from Jesus.\u00a0 Like Paul, you will know the words to say at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
