Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cAnd the voice came to him again a second time, \u201cWhat God has made clean, do not call common<\/em>.\u201d ( Acts 10:15 ESV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KOINOS (2840): <\/strong>\u201cIs translated \u201cunclean.\u201d  Where the perfect participle, passive, is used with the article, hence \u201cthem that have been defiled.\u201d[I]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Made clean.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter, praying on the roof, had a vision.  The heavens opened, and a sheet descended with reptiles and birds.  God commands, \u201cRise, Peter; kill and eat\u201d (Acts 10:13 ESV).  But Peter protests because eating these \u201cunclean\u201d animals goes against Levitical law.  Three times the vision occurred before God pulled the sheet back to heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a knowledgeable Jew like Peter, God\u2019s revelation truly baffles him.  However, Peter quickly realizes the meaning of the vision:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.\u201d (Acts 10:28 ESV<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equal in God.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter\u2019s vision signifies the equality of man.  Jesus\u2019 actions on the cross fulfilled the law once and for all, opening the door for everyone to enter heaven.  We know little about the thief on the cross who hung beside Jesus, but we know he\u2019s enjoying paradise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd he said to him,\u00a0\u201cTruly, I say to you, today you will be with me in\u00a0paradise.\u201d (Luke 23:43 ESV<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equality in Christ applies to everyone.  Ethnicity doesn\u2019t decide entrance into heaven; faith does.  God loves all.  Whether they love the Lord in return remains their choice.  But I believe that if we love others well for Jesus, giving Him the glory, others can\u2019t help but love Christ. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t call common what God calls clean.  In Christ, everyone has the opportunity to experience paradise.
