{"id":5888,"date":"2022-05-20T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-20T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=5888"},"modified":"2022-04-27T07:19:45","modified_gmt":"2022-04-27T12:19:45","slug":"stumble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2022\/05\/20\/stumble\/","title":{"rendered":"STUMBLE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Stumbled-1024x980.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5889\" width=\"335\" height=\"319\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Daily Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=+1+Samuel+26%3A1-28%3A25+&amp;version=ESV\">1 Samuel 26:1-28:25 ESV<\/a>, &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+11%3A1-54+&amp;version=ESV\">John 11:1-54 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+117%3A1-2&amp;version=ESV\">Psalm 117:1-2 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+15%3A22-23&amp;version=ESV\">Proverbs 15:22-23 ESV<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cJesus answered,&nbsp;\u201cAre there not twelve hours in the day?&nbsp;If anyone walks in the day, he does not <em>stumble<\/em>, because he sees the light of this world.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+11%3A9&amp;version=ESV\">John 11:9 ESV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>METOIKESIA (3350): <\/strong>\u201cA change of abode by force.\u201d<a id=\"_ednref1\" href=\"#_edn1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Forced change.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travelers during Jesus&#8217; day didn\u2019t have the convenience of streetlights.&nbsp; Night-time journeys meant not seeing the stumbling blocks in the road.&nbsp;&nbsp; However, daytime walks meant well-lit paths, making it easy to avoid the potholes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cYour word is a lamp to my feet<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and a light to my path.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+119%3A105&amp;version=ESV\">Psalm 119: 105 ESV<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Jesus lights your path.&nbsp; Applying His teachings to your life will help you avoid the potholes and keep you from stumbling.&nbsp; But if we take our eyes off the Savior, we become susceptible to falling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stumbling means a forced change of abode.&nbsp; When I missed the last step of the stairs in my house, looking at my phone instead of my path, I caused myself pain.&nbsp; Not paying attention, walking in darkness, I missed the danger ahead.&nbsp; Now, weeks later, I still have pain in my knee from lack of awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stay focused.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we focus our eyes on Jesus, He lights the way for us, but the moment we look away, our path becomes dark.&nbsp; In an instant, you can find yourself on the floor, wondering what happened.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, the most significant hurts come from the smallest stumbles.&nbsp; Stubbing your toe causes an extraordinary amount of pain.&nbsp; Jesus doesn\u2019t want us to stumble; He wants us to focus on Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keeping the Son in your eyes does require intentionality.&nbsp; You must decide to follow Jesus, then pursue Him vigorously.&nbsp; Reading God\u2019s Word daily, developing a relationship with the Creator through prayer, applying Jesus\u2019 teachings to your life all ways we keep our paths lighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you feel surrounded by darkness, invite Jesus into the room.&nbsp; Ask Him to light your path and give you direction.&nbsp; Often, God only gives us enough light for the next step, knowing that\u2019s all we need for today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a id=\"_edn1\" href=\"#_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> Strong, J., &amp; Strong, J.
