{"id":5283,"date":"2022-02-01T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=5283"},"modified":"2022-02-01T09:39:04","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T14:39:04","slug":"authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2022\/02\/01\/authority\/","title":{"rendered":"AUTHORITY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-902x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5284\" width=\"342\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-902x1024.jpg 902w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-264x300.jpg 264w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-768x872.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-1352x1536.jpg 1352w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Authority-1803x2048.jpg 1803w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus+13%3A17-15%3A18+&amp;version=ESV\">Exodus 13:17-15:18 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+21%3A23-46+&amp;version=ESV\">Matthew 21:23-46 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+26%3A1-12+&amp;version=ESV\">Psalm 26:1-12 ESV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+6%3A16-19++&amp;version=ESV\">Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Verse:<\/strong> \u201cAnd when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him&nbsp;as he was teaching, and said,&nbsp;\u201cBy what <em>authority<\/em> are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+21%3A23&amp;version=ESV\">Matthew 21:23 ESV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EXOUSIA (1849): <\/strong>\u201cFrom the meaning of \u201cleave or permission,\u201d or liberty of doing as one pleases, it passed to that of the \u201cthe ability or strength with which one is endued,\u201d then to that of the power of authority,\u201d the right to exercise power.\u201d<a href=\"#_edn1\">[I]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>God gives authority.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jewish leaders at the temple challenge Jesus\u2019s authority about God.&nbsp; The day before this encounter, Jesus rid the temple of money changers conducting business within its walls.&nbsp; Appalled, the chief priests and elders want to know who gave Jesus the right to exercise such power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brilliantly, Jesus answers the question with a question.&nbsp; Instead of thinking for the religious leaders, Jesus allowed them to think for themselves.&nbsp; When faced with the dilemma of who gave John authority to baptize, heaven or man, the elders didn\u2019t have an answer.&nbsp; Since the chief priests couldn\u2019t answer Jesus, He didn\u2019t respond to their query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Actions convey authority.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of asking permission, Jesus knew His mission.&nbsp; On a divine task, direct from His Father, Jesus didn\u2019t hesitate.&nbsp; When God\u2019s house became tainted with commercial traffic, Jesus put an end to the business.&nbsp; Teaching parables, Jesus taught those in the temple a new way of thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus left us with a divine task, love God and others (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+12%3A30-31&amp;version=ESV\">Mark 12:30-31<\/a>).&nbsp; We have the authority to love, against such things; no law exists (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=galatians+5%3A23&amp;version=ESV\">Galatians 5:23<\/a>).&nbsp; When searching for purpose in life, God gives direction.&nbsp; You have the choice of what your actions convey, to love or to hate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exercise your authority today.&nbsp; Love everyone God brings into your path.&nbsp; Give affection freely, just as God gives it to you.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> Strong, J., &amp; Strong, J.
