“<\/sup>Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,\u00a0 that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel”\u00a0 Philippians 1:12<\/strong><\/em>
\nI have had so many conversations with people lately about why bad things happen to good people?\u00a0 Why does God allow it to happen?
\nThey are challenging conversations.\u00a0 Especially with some of the circumstances people are facing.\u00a0 I wonder it in my own life.\u00a0 It’s why I’m intently studying Job.\u00a0 I’m looking for answers to those questions.
\nI just realized, I’m asking the wrong questions.
\nGod promised us in John 16:33 we will have trouble in this world:
\n\u201cI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.\u00a0In this world you will have trouble.\u00a0But take heart! I have overcome\u00a0the world.\u201d<\/em>
\nYet, as I’ve talked about before, we’re surprised when they do actually happen.\u00a0 I was surprised when Cody died.\u00a0 I wasn’t expecting it.\u00a0 Didn’t see it coming.\u00a0 Yet it happened.\u00a0 Gratefully, we had answers to a lot of our questions.\u00a0 More times than not, we don’t have answers.\u00a0 I think mainly because there are none this side of heaven.
\nI can absolutely tell you I did not ask these two questions:
\n“How is God going to use this to advance the gospel in and through me?” (Phil 1:12)<\/strong><\/em>
\n“How can I display Your great strength in my great weakness?” (2 Cor. 12:9-10)<\/strong><\/em>

\nThose are tough questions to ask.\u00a0 It is hard to take the focus off of ourselves.\u00a0 It’s hard to take the focus off of the circumstances.\u00a0 It is really hard to take our focus off of the pain.\u00a0 I find it incredibly difficult.
\nBut I’m going to try.\u00a0 I’m going to try asking these questions instead.\u00a0 I’m going to try and get my focus back on God, instead of myself.
