{"id":4692,"date":"2021-10-29T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-29T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=4692"},"modified":"2021-10-10T16:11:34","modified_gmt":"2021-10-10T21:11:34","slug":"how-doulos-will-make-you-become-like-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2021\/10\/29\/how-doulos-will-make-you-become-like-jesus\/","title":{"rendered":"How Doulos Will Make You Become Like Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10.29-1024x975.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4693\" width=\"344\" height=\"326\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Reading: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ezekiel+11-12&amp;version=GW\">Ezekiel 11-12 GW<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Galatians%204&amp;version=GW\">Galatians 4 GW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doulos for God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My introduction to the word \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doulos\">Doulos<\/a>\u201d happened years ago.&nbsp; The pastor received a car as a gift, and \u201cDoulos\u201d was the license plate he chose.&nbsp; The Greek word means \u201cslave.\u201d&nbsp; In his message, the pastor talked about the word and why he chose it.&nbsp; The New Testament uses Doulos 120 times.&nbsp; According to the NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblestudytools.com\/lexicons\/greek\/nas\/doulos.html\"><em>Doulos<\/em><\/a><em> is a slave, bondman, man of servile condition.&nbsp; Metaphorically, one who gives himself up to another\u2019s will whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, the pastor was a slave to Christ, bonded with Him in his mission, as are we when we become Christ-followers.&nbsp; We leave our old sins behind as we strive to become new in Christ.&nbsp; When we give our life for God, we become Doulos to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>God\u2019s bondservant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submitting your life to Christ bonds us with Him.&nbsp; Every day, as we strive to follow and obey Jesus\u2019s commands, we draw closer to Him.&nbsp; Our relationship becomes more vital as our lives transform, becoming new, one day at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m an ex-smoker, having quit when I was 30.&nbsp; But occasionally, I would still smoke a cigarette.&nbsp; After my sister died in 2001, I started again.&nbsp; I would buy a pack of cigarettes, smoke one, and throw the rest away.&nbsp; One day, my brother caught me smoking.&nbsp; In dismay, I hid the smoking tobacco and immediately lied to cover up my sin.&nbsp; He believed me, but the weight of lying to my brother consumed me.&nbsp; Minutes after he pulled out of the driveway, I called and confessed my sin.&nbsp; I\u2019d rather tell the truth than a lie.&nbsp; Integrity is built one honest statement at a time.&nbsp; And, that moment helped me stop smoking again.&nbsp; If what I\u2019m doing causes me to lie, then I shouldn\u2019t do it.&nbsp; Because of my doulos, my life changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Become a bondservant of Christ.&nbsp; Submit your life to His willingly.&nbsp; Let your life change in ways you never imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bookcover.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4819\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bookcover.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bookcover-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/bookcover-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Three-Word-Prayers-Everyday-Living-ebook\/dp\/B09JT3B6CW\/ref=sr_1_2?crid=18UKNZFIIDIEA&amp;dchild=1&amp;keywords=three+word+prayers&amp;qid=1635775169&amp;sprefix=three+word+prayers%2Caps%2C69&amp;sr=8-2\">Check out my new release on Amazon<\/a>.
