God understands motive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think our requests to God are pure but often aren\u2019t. God knows when we\u2019re asking for something for our pleasure, even when we don\u2019t.  When I was a child, asking God to make my parents say\u201d \u201cYes,\u201d to whatever childish request I had never worked. Why wouldn\u2019t God do my will?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because God isn\u2019t at my beck and call, I\u2019m at His.  We think we know what is good for us, but we don\u2019t.  An alcoholic wouldn\u2019t take the first drink if he knew it would ruin his life.  God knows when we\u2019re drinking from the wrong cup.  If we\u2019re heading down the wrong path, God changes our direction.  Our annoyances are God\u2019s maneuverings.   When things don\u2019t go our way, sometimes, it\u2019s because we\u2019re going in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honesty is the best policy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can\u2019t decipher our motives as God can.  What we can do is talk to God honestly about whatever is going on in our lives.  Currently, I have a relationship issue that seems stagnant from my perspective. I\u2019ve followed God\u2019s promptings to the best of my ability, but nothing seems to happen.  The harder I try, the worse the situation seems to get.  But I keep talking to God about the circumstance, asking for His guidance.  What I\u2019ve found, God is changing me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situations God puts in our lives grow us.  God purifies our hearts by giving us what we need, not what we want. One of my favorite movies, Bruce Almighty<\/a>, depicts what happens if God said \u201cYes\u201d to everyone\u2019s requests.  Chaos would rule because our desires aren\u2019t pure.  Think of some of the situations you\u2019ve prayed about in your life. With hindsight, you\u2019re thankful God said, \u201cNo.\u201d We all have them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God knows our motives.\u00a0 He purifies our hearts with His answers.\u00a0 If God doesn\u2019t give you what you want, trust He\u2019s got your back.\u00a0 No one loves you more than God.\u00a0 Believe God knows what is best for you, especially when you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lord, thank You for saying, \u201cNo\u201d to us.  Forgive us for expecting You to answer to us.  Help us accept Your sovereignty in our lives.  Whatever answer You give us, we know it\u2019s the best one.  Protect us from ourselves. You know we need it.  IJNIP.  Amen<\/p>\n\n\n\n
