A man of God, his books and speeches still impact people\u2019s lives years after his death.&nbsp; Listening to his presentation on his book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Over-Top-Survival-Stability-Significance-ebook\/dp\/B00AQ0AE9Q\/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjw1ouKBhC5ARIsAHXNMI_SYvMSKESXrAmAbCi1_5XO9YtJEZSmUvCHCOhCkDKDaQkqr53_S8saAiWpEALw_wcB&amp;hvadid=241638316520&amp;hvdev=c&amp;hvlocphy=9008565&amp;hvnetw=g&amp;hvqmt=e&amp;hvrand=4670570768265417213&amp;hvtargid=kwd-1356884825&amp;hydadcr=8263_10374902&amp;keywords=over+the+top+zig+ziglar&amp;qid=1631801117&amp;sr=8-2\">Over the Top<\/a>,\u201d he made an interesting point:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIn the 1770s, 3 million Americans produced Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and James Monroe, among others.&nbsp; In 1997, 266 million Americans produced?&nbsp; You fill in the blank.&nbsp; I can\u2019t think of one equal to any of our Founding Fathers.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zig\u2019s reasoning for this reality is because of how we learn.&nbsp; During the 1700s, children learned to read and write from the Bible.&nbsp; In other words, the textbook was the scriptures.&nbsp; Slowly, over time, that changed.&nbsp; Zig\u2019s research to back up his point saddened me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cAccording to the Thomas Jefferson Research Institute, in the 1770s, over 90 percent of our educational thrust was of an ethical, moral, religious nature.&nbsp; By 1926, the percentage was down to 6 percent, and by 1951, the percentage was so low it could not be measured.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Growth requires discipline.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years ago, the statistic for people who read scripture daily was 11%.&nbsp; When I was looking for a Pew Research study to find a more current statistic, I couldn\u2019t find one.&nbsp; Instead, I found statistics for weekly.&nbsp; Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2018\/05\/07\/blacks-more-likely-than-others-in-u-s-to-read-the-bible-regularly-see-it-as-gods-word\/\">top of the list<\/a>, 88% according to the poll, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/religion\/religions\/witnesses\/beliefs\/beliefs.shtml\">believe<\/a> Jesus is God\u2019s son, but not God and the Holy Spirit isn\u2019t a person.&nbsp; Protestant\u2019s, people professing to follow Jesus, were at 63%.&nbsp; In other words, people who don\u2019t believe in Jesus are reading the stories about Him more regularly than the people who do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Growth can\u2019t come without intention.&nbsp;
