{"id":4462,"date":"2021-09-16T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=4462"},"modified":"2021-09-02T10:28:39","modified_gmt":"2021-09-02T15:28:39","slug":"how-choosing-the-right-battles-will-make-you-love-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2021\/09\/16\/how-choosing-the-right-battles-will-make-you-love-more\/","title":{"rendered":"How Choosing the Right Battles Will Make You Love More"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Reading: <\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Zechariah%2014&amp;version=GW\">Zechariah 14 GW<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans%2014&amp;version=GW\">Romans 14 GW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-1024x989.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4463\" width=\"356\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-1024x989.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-300x290.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-768x742.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-1536x1483.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-2048x1978.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 356px) 100vw, 356px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Unity, not division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the chapters in my book is on this topic.\u00a0 All around our country, division is occurring.\u00a0 As people of faith, our job is to unite, not divide.\u00a0 Loving God and others is a one-on-one sport.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like playing tennis, two players are necessary.\u00a0 The difference between the two, following Jesus, isn\u2019t about winning.\u00a0 People aren\u2019t drawn to us if our primary purpose is to win.\u00a0 But people do enjoy the company of those who care more about them than winning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a life-long Christ-follower, I know about in-house debates; different points of view on scripture.&nbsp; For instance, tribulation is considered the end time when Christ returns.&nbsp; Some believe Christ returns before the tribulation, some believe in the middle, and others believe after.&nbsp; Scripture supports each argument.&nbsp; But the truth is, no one knows.&nbsp; God is clear; we aren\u2019t meant to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBut concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%2013%3A32&amp;version=ESV\"><em>Mark 13:32 ESV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em><\/em><strong>Love don\u2019t debate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since no one knows the answer, I choose not to get involved in in-house debates.&nbsp; When people try to engage me, I don\u2019t.&nbsp; For me, debating unknowables takes time away from loving God and people. And I\u2019ve seen division occur because people disagree.&nbsp; One of the hardest lessons for me to learn, life isn\u2019t about winning or losing; it\u2019s about resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, my tennis partner handles communications for our academy.&nbsp; In a recent email, her wording confused one of the parents.&nbsp; When the parent asked for clarification, my partner immediately apologized for her lack of clarity.&nbsp; She had a choice; she could have chosen to push back and blame the parent or defend her words.&nbsp; But instead, she decided to own her actions and seek resolution, not victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choosing what debates to invest time into is tough.&nbsp; Ask God; He\u2019ll let you know which battles to fight, which to avoid.
