{"id":4349,"date":"2021-08-30T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=4349"},"modified":"2021-08-15T09:03:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-15T14:03:58","slug":"how-listening-will-make-you-a-good-comforter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2021\/08\/30\/how-listening-will-make-you-a-good-comforter\/","title":{"rendered":"How Listening Will Make You A Good Comforter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/8.30-900x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4350\" width=\"345\" height=\"391\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daily Reading:&nbsp; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job%2021&amp;version=GW\">Job 20-21 GW<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Colossians%201&amp;version=GW\">Colossians 1 GW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When someone you love is in pain, you don\u2019t have to talk.&nbsp; Words aren\u2019t necessary, but open ears are.&nbsp; During tragedy, I hear these words often, \u201cI don\u2019t know what to say.\u201d&nbsp; Neither do I, which is why saying nothing is a good choice.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three and a half years ago, one of my best friends\u2019 sons became a murder victim.&nbsp; While helping his father finish a project for a homeless veteran, two 18-year-old boys accosted them.&nbsp; My friend\u2019s husband miraculously recovered from five bullet wounds.&nbsp; Her son died from two shots to the heart.&nbsp; What do you say in a moment like this one?&nbsp; Nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one knows what to say when the worst-case scenario happens.&nbsp; I called and left a simple message.&nbsp; \u201cI have no words.
