{"id":4144,"date":"2021-07-23T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=4144"},"modified":"2021-06-29T08:24:50","modified_gmt":"2021-06-29T13:24:50","slug":"how-honoring-yourself-will-make-you-humble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2021\/07\/23\/how-honoring-yourself-will-make-you-humble\/","title":{"rendered":"How Honoring Yourself Will Make You Humble"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 minute read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-91.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4145\" width=\"330\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-91.png 542w, https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Screenshot-91-280x300.png 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Daily Reading:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Chronicles+12-13&amp;version=GW\"><strong> <\/strong>1 Chronicles 12-13 GW<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke%2014&amp;version=GW\">Luke 14 GW<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Self accolades precede humbling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is talking about guests at a banquet who choose places of honor to sit.&nbsp; Instead of sitting in the reserved section, sit in the cheap seats.&nbsp; This way, if someone more prestigious than you is coming, you don\u2019t take their spot.&nbsp; On the other hand, if you are an honored guest, the host will move you to the proper seat and everyone will witness the promotion to a better position.&nbsp; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke%2014%3A7-11&amp;version=NIV\">Luke 14:7-11 GW<\/a>)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pride, laziness, and the desire for honor are in direct contrast to what we need to follow Jesus\u2014chasing after Jesus requires humility, servanthood, and commitment.\u00a0 We aren\u2019t to honor ourselves; we\u2019re to glorify God.\u00a0 If God desires for us to take a different seat at the table, He\u2019ll let us know.\u00a0 Until then, we\u2019re to sit humbly and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, Jesus is telling us we have to choose.\u00a0 Our choice is simple:\u00a0 Jesus or not.\u00a0 We either believe Jesus and do as He says, or we don\u2019t.\u00a0 The decision is yours; God doesn\u2019t give room for indecisiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Yes or no.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Close-ended questions are those that have a one-word answer: yes or no.&nbsp; In between doesn\u2019t exist when it comes to Jesus.&nbsp; You either say \u201cYes\u201d to Jesus, or you say \u201cNo.\u201d every time you say no, God grieves.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we choose to honor ourselves, God will humble us.
