{"id":2774,"date":"2020-12-04T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2774"},"modified":"2020-11-23T13:36:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T18:36:50","slug":"why-you-should-love-other-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/12\/04\/why-you-should-love-other-people\/","title":{"rendered":"WHY YOU SHOULD LOVE OTHER PEOPLE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>4 minute read<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cDear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.\u201d (1 John 4:11 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love others because God first loved you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Influencers in today\u2019s world are people who have a large following.&nbsp; But in reality, you don\u2019t need a large following to influence.&nbsp; Jesus died for the one; He left the 99 to find the 100th:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAnd if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. <\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>I<\/em><em>n the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2018%3A13-14&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Matthew 18:13-14 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Love like Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we love like Jesus, people get to know Him.\u00a0 Feeding the hungry, helping the homeless both reflect Jesus\u2019s love. \u00a0 In today\u2019s world, we have to learn to love through the internet and face to face. \u00a0 People relate through screens more than they do physically.\u00a0 One dimensional communication creates miscommunication.\u00a0 What we mean and what people interpret are two different things. \u00a0 Don\u2019t engage in the argument; instead, spread encouragement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the pandemic started, I\u2019ve made a conscious effort to post uplifting and encouraging posts on my social media feed.&nbsp; My husband and I share a page; I asked his permission to post what I want when I want.&nbsp; Selfies are not my thing, but I post them; they let people see how I\u2019m doing.&nbsp; One of my recent posts was titled: \u201cBattling the blues sans Beth.\u201d &nbsp; With an intent to encourage, I took a <a href=\"https:\/\/photos.app.goo.gl\/ZhXbrjhV2E2MhTVf9\">selfie <\/a>during my walk. Struggling with a bout of depression that morning, I moved through it by recognizing, accepting, investigating, and nurturing (RAIN) my emotions.&nbsp; We can\u2019t change the world\u2019s heaviness, but we can embrace God\u2019s promises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTake my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2011%3A29-30&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Matthew 11:29-30 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People learn of Jesus when we love like Him. Responding to people\u2019s comments on social media is a way to love like Jesus virtually.&nbsp; Not rising to the occasion when someone instigates an argument, but instead, finding a way to uplift and encourage can change the world.&nbsp; Remember, behind the screen is a person. Whoever you\u2019re communicating with, they have emotions.&nbsp; \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/title\/81254224\">The Social Dilemma<\/a>,\u201d a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/\">Netflix<\/a> movie, stated alarming statistics.
