{"id":2761,"date":"2020-12-01T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2761"},"modified":"2020-11-20T09:27:55","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T14:27:55","slug":"who-do-you-call-when-you-are-in-distress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/12\/01\/who-do-you-call-when-you-are-in-distress\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO DO YOU CALL WHEN YOU ARE IN DISTRESS?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>4 minute read<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.\u201d (Psalm 120:1 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call God\u2019s hotline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever watched Batman, you\u2019ve seen the Bat phone.\u00a0 If not, check out this brief <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pNO0ECHTP5A\">retrospective<\/a>.\u00a0 A bright red phone in the Commissioner\u2019s office connects to Batman, wherever he is, whatever he is doing.\u00a0 When a need arises, he\u2019s always ready to answer the call.\u00a0 If Batman isn\u2019t near his phone, someone is that lets him know it\u2019s ringing.\u00a0 Help comes with one call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our \u201cbat phone\u201d to God isn\u2019t physical, but it is just as real.&nbsp; Everytime trouble occurs, God is waiting expectantly for the call.&nbsp; If we\u2019re struggling to pick up the phone, God gives us people who help us lift it.&nbsp; They point us in His direction, knowing He is the only one with the answers for a broken heart, desperate situation or general crisis.&nbsp; Dropping to our knees, humbling ourselves before God, brings divine help into our circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>God\u2019s line is always open.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter what time of day you call, God answers.&nbsp; We may not see His response immediately, but He started responding before you ever started dialing. &nbsp; He\u2019s not surprised by your request, He\u2019s been waiting for you to come to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWith great connectivity comes great responsibility.\u201d&nbsp; <\/em>Batman Retrospective Video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God is responsible for the answers.&nbsp; We\u2019re responsible for connecting.&nbsp; If we don\u2019t make the connection with God by calling on Him, we\u2019ll never find the answers.&nbsp; When we call on God, He reveals His truth to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, a friend and I are studying Revelation chapter by chapter.&nbsp; When we first began, my friend summed up the book with the words, \u201cIt brings the Old Testament and the New Testament together.\u201d&nbsp; She\u2019s right, the deeper we study, the more we see this truth.&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; Because that is what the book is about, revealing the truth of Jesus.&nbsp; His truth is not our truth.&nbsp; What He sees, we cannot see.&nbsp; Only when we connect to Him, do we begin to have glimpses of His view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, my heart took a ding over a family situation.&nbsp; My first response was not calling God.&nbsp; No, first I called a friend, who didn\u2019t answer.&nbsp; Then I texted another friend, also no response.&nbsp; Their lack of response was what made me fall to my knees.&nbsp; When I called God, He answered.&nbsp; I\u2019m not saying He immediately fixed the hurt, He didn\u2019t.&nbsp; But what reaching out to Him allowed me to do was unload the hurt and disappointment from my soul into His waiting hands.&nbsp; If we don\u2019t release our pain, we\u2019ll eventually explode.&nbsp; God can handle our misery, He has an answer.&nbsp; But if we don\u2019t call Him, we\u2019ll never get the response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call God when you\u2019re in distress.&nbsp; He always answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Question of the Day:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Do you call God first when a problem arises?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Further Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Daniel+8&amp;version=NIV\">Daniel 8:1-27 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20John%202:1-17&amp;version=NIV\">1 John 2:1-17 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%20120&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 120:1-7 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs%2028%3A25-26&amp;version=NIV\">Proverbs 28:25-26 NIV<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4 minute read \u201cI call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.\u201d (Psalm 120:1 NIV) Call God\u2019s hotline.
