{"id":2693,"date":"2020-11-10T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2693"},"modified":"2020-10-30T13:19:16","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T18:19:16","slug":"what-you-do-when-you-see-danger-is-telling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/11\/10\/what-you-do-when-you-see-danger-is-telling\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU SEE DANGER IS TELLING"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>4 minute read<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThe prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.\u201d (Proverbs 27:12 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you are prudent or simple is defined by your reaction to danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since we live on the east coast, we experience hurricanes. Intense storms that move slowly get a lot of press.&nbsp; Typically a week out from landfall, the news coverage begins.&nbsp; Opinions based on scientific models trying to predict the storm\u2019s course are rampant.&nbsp; People start boarding up their homes and evacuating to safer areas.&nbsp; But some people decide to stay behind.&nbsp; Various reasons cause people not to evacuate.&nbsp; Even knowing staying may mean death, they choose to stay. A majority of people would call not leaving simple, but not all.&nbsp; Deciding to ride out a hurricane isn\u2019t typically a prudent decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Calculate the cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When facing danger, calculate the cost.&nbsp; Hurricanes mean you can quickly lose everything, including your life.&nbsp; Material things are replaceable; human life is not.&nbsp; Each person must determine the price they are willing to pay.&nbsp; For Christ-followers, death is but the next phase of life.&nbsp; Jesus\u2019s resurrection gives us eternal life.&nbsp; What appears as a danger to some is not to others. &nbsp; Paul tells us to die is gain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFor to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Philippians%201%3A21&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Philippians 1:21 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever danger you face, Christ is with you.&nbsp; He is always with you; He will never leave nor forsake you (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2013:5&amp;version=NIV\">Hebrews 13:5 NIV<\/a>).&nbsp; Following Him closely means He\u2019ll let you know when to take cover.&nbsp; He\u2019ll also let you know when to stay.&nbsp; If unsure of what you should do, just ask Him.&nbsp; A simple prayer I pray: \u201cGod open the doors you want me to go through, close the ones you don\u2019t.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God\u2019s direction keeps you out of danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Danger for me lately is keeping up.&nbsp; I feel overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do.&nbsp; New project ideas are rampant in my head; I\u2019m trying to finish my last class before I graduate and, of course, working.&nbsp; But then God intervenes.&nbsp; As a tennis teacher, rainy days mean unexpected days off.&nbsp; This past week, God gave me two unanticipated free nights because of the weather.&nbsp; Then, our weekend plans went awry, canceling as well.&nbsp; I went from trying to find time to get it all done to God, giving me exactly the time I need to do what I need to do.&nbsp; God protects us from trouble:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cYou are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble;\u201d <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2032:7&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 32:7 NIV<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking with God mean\u2019s safety from the storm.&nbsp; Hurricane\u2019s will still rage, but in Him, we find strength.&nbsp; Whether we evacuate or stay, we are secure in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When in danger, seek God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Question of the Day:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">What danger has God saved you from lately?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Further Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ezekiel%2021-22&amp;version=NIV\">Ezekiel 21:1-22:31NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews%2010:1-17&amp;version=NIV\">Hebrews 10:1-17 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+108&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 108 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+27%3A12&amp;version=NIV\">Proverbs 27:12 NIV<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4 minute read \u201cThe prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.\u201d (Proverbs 27:12 NIV) Whether you are prudent or simple is defined by your reaction to danger.
