{"id":2688,"date":"2020-11-08T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-08T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2688"},"modified":"2020-10-30T09:43:03","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T14:43:03","slug":"who-do-you-want-to-show-you-mercy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/11\/08\/who-do-you-want-to-show-you-mercy\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO DO YOU WANT TO SHOW YOU MERCY?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4 minute read<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cHe caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.\u201d (Psalm 106:46 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mercy starts with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Captivity to sin is a daily struggle.&nbsp; Our battles look different from the Israelites, but they still exist.&nbsp; Worldly captives include unhealthy relationships, monetary debt, uncontrolled lifestyles which lead to physical ailments. Tendrils of sin weave in and out of our lives, ensnaring us in their trap.&nbsp; Only through God\u2019s promises can we find freedom, praise leads the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Worship willfully.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each morning, start with worship.&nbsp; When we begin our conversation with God using praise, we\u2019re acknowledging our limitations.&nbsp; Thanking Him for getting you out of bed recognizes He is the one who gives life, and takes it away.&nbsp; Even Job, in his darkest hour after losing everything, understood God\u2019s sovereignty:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cNaked I came from my mother\u2019s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;&nbsp; may the name of the Lord be praised.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job%201:21&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Job 1:21 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Understanding God\u2019s ways is something no human can do.&nbsp; The quest to try and accomplish this feat is never ending by people.&nbsp; Their efforts are futile.&nbsp; No one knows why God does what He does:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cFor my thoughts are not your thoughts,&nbsp; neither are your ways my ways,\u201d declares the Lord.<\/em><strong><em>&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><em>\u201cAs the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah%2055%3A8-9&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The grace God extends to me always humbles.&nbsp; As I think of the mercy people have shown me in my life, I\u2019m in awe.&nbsp; My mother when she paid off my car in college.&nbsp; Four brother\u2019s, who have helped me countless times in my life get back on track.&nbsp; Friends who have forgiven me when I have wronged them some way.&nbsp; All are gifts from God worthy of praise.&nbsp; All are merciful moments that He orchestrated.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God gives mercy through people.&nbsp; His grace becomes reality when others forgive us.&nbsp; Learning to accept this gift is challenging.&nbsp; Each of us knows our dark secrets.&nbsp; If we were to have an honest conversation, we could tell the reasons we don\u2019t think we deserve God\u2019s grace.&nbsp; But here\u2019s the truth, God knows everything about you and loves you.&nbsp; Every mistake you made He knows.&nbsp; You\u2019re not hiding anything from Him, don\u2019t waste time trying.&nbsp; Instead, praise Him for the gift.&nbsp; Then share what He has done for you with others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cFor it is by grace you have been saved, through faith\u2014and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God\u2014\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians%202%3A8&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Ephesians 2:8 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start with praise.\u00a0 Lay your sins at the His feet.\u00a0 Receive His mercy.
