{"id":2509,"date":"2020-09-14T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2509"},"modified":"2020-09-06T13:40:07","modified_gmt":"2020-09-06T18:40:07","slug":"how-can-you-apply-your-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/09\/14\/how-can-you-apply-your-heart\/","title":{"rendered":"HOW CAN YOU APPLY YOUR HEART?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>\u201cApply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.\u201d (Proverbs 23:12 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gain wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the book of Proverbs is to teach people how to live their life.&nbsp; The writings, mostly by Solomon, are meant to teach us what to do and not do.&nbsp; I read a chapter of Proverbs a day.&nbsp; Usually, from those words, I find the easiest verses to apply to my life.&nbsp; Their simplicity is easy to translate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, I translate today\u2019s verse as gain knowledge by listening to others.&nbsp; Everyone has something they can teach us.&nbsp; I\u2019ve found, I never know who will teach me the most profound lessons.&nbsp; If we close our ears to what others have to say because we disagree with them, we will never learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Ask questions to gain wisdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus asked questions.&nbsp; He engaged people in conversation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, \u201cWill you give me a drink?\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20John%204%3A7&amp;version=NIV\"><em>John 4:7 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus knew this woman, but he wanted her to tell Him.&nbsp; He made an effort to engage with her.&nbsp; Often, we have to make an effort to talk to someone. &nbsp; Life is busy. People get caught up in their daily schedules.&nbsp; We\u2019re navigating new routines because of COVID, but we\u2019re still packing it in.&nbsp; My heart is praying fervently for students at all levels as they begin school.&nbsp; God help them all.&nbsp; Now is the time to reach out to that friend you haven\u2019t heard from in a while.&nbsp; Check-in on them, see how they are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning what is going on in the lives of our loved ones is wisdom.&nbsp; When we understand what challenges they are facing, we can help them find victory.&nbsp; If you know they lost their job because of COVID, you can be God\u2019s hand and feet to them.&nbsp; Drop off dinner.&nbsp; Connect them to employment opportunities.
