{"id":2449,"date":"2020-08-27T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2449"},"modified":"2020-08-19T10:44:43","modified_gmt":"2020-08-19T15:44:43","slug":"who-has-turned-against-you-in-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/08\/27\/who-has-turned-against-you-in-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO HAS TURNED AGAINST YOU IN YOUR LIFE?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cEven my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.\u201d (Psalm 41:9 NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A friend\u2019s betrayal stings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David is writing this Psalm.&nbsp; Jesus applied this verse to Judas Iscariot when he betrayed Him.&nbsp; At the last supper, before Jesus&#8217; crucifixion, the disciples shared a meal together.&nbsp; Jesus said someone would betray Him.&nbsp; When they asked who, \u201cJ<em>esus replied, &#8220;The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%2026:23-25&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Matthew 26:23 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>).&nbsp; <\/em>Jesus understood what having a friend turn against you is like.&nbsp; In fact, Judas\u2019s betrayal led to Jesus&#8217; death.&nbsp; Thankfully, the story doesn\u2019t end with the betrayal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, in life, we will all experience betrayal.&nbsp; Someone we love will hurt us deeply with their actions.&nbsp; Betrayals are hard to let go of because they represent a breaking of trust.&nbsp; Broken trust takes time to re-build, if ever.&nbsp; Sometimes, the person doing the betraying has no interest in reconciling the relationship.&nbsp; If they don\u2019t take ownership for their actions, the relationship is impossible to restore.&nbsp; We can\u2019t control someone else\u2019s actions, but we can control ours.&nbsp; We can rise above the betrayal like Jesus did.&nbsp; We can forgive them, we can pray for them, and we can keep on going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Forgive, pray, move.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don\u2019t expect friends to betray us, but they do. Jesus knew Judas would betray Him:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>Jesus responded, \u201cHaven\u2019t I handpicked you, the Twelve? Still, one of you is a devil!\u201d He was referring to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. This man\u2014one from the Twelve!\u2014was even then getting ready to betray him.\u201d (J<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+6%3A70-71&amp;version=MSG\"><em>ohn 6:70 MSG<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus understands humanity.&nbsp; He knows why Judas betrayed Him.&nbsp; He didn\u2019t want Judas to betray Him, but Judas succumbed to the temptations of the world.&nbsp; We all are guilty of giving in to the devil\u2019s schemes:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cFor our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers&#8230;the spiritual forces of evil.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ephesians+6%3A12&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Ephesians 6:12 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus chose the person who would lead to His death to disciple.&nbsp; He loved the man who betrayed him, knowing what he would do.&nbsp; But Jesus didn\u2019t enable Judas.&nbsp; He let Judas follow the path he chose.&nbsp; We have the choice of who we love and follow.&nbsp; When we choose Jesus, we choose the path that leads to wholeness.&nbsp; We choose the One who overcame all temptation in this world.&nbsp; The One who died for us so we could have a relationship with our Heavenly Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each day God gives us will have different challenges.&nbsp; When we start our day by asking a God for a renewal of His Spirit within us, He leads the way.&nbsp; He goes before us and prepares our path.&nbsp; He helps us to forgive, He helps us pray, He helps us move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Question of the Day:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Have you asked God to renew His Spirit within you today?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Further Reading:\u00a0 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Job%2023-27&amp;version=NKJV\">Job 23-27 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Corinthians%201%3A12-2%3A11&amp;version=NIV\">2 Corinthians 1:12-2:11 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2041&amp;version=NIV\">Psalm 41 NIV<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs%2022:5-6&amp;version=NIV\">Proverbs 22:5-6 NIV<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cEven my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.\u201d (Psalm 41:9 NIV) A friend\u2019s betrayal stings.
