For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.\u201d (Romans 7:15 NIV)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We all do what we don\u2019t want to do.&nbsp; Even Paul struggled with this predicament.&nbsp; Jesus is the only one who didn\u2019t.&nbsp; The definition for humanity should include imperfection.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many times a day do you do something you didn\u2019t want to do, but for some reason, you just can\u2019t help yourself?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Food is a great example.&nbsp; I open the refrigerator door, instead of eating the apple I eat the pudding.&nbsp; When I look in the pantry, instead of opting for a handful of nuts, I choose a handful of tortilla chips&#8230;with queso.&nbsp; I know, at that moment, I\u2019m making the wrong decision, yet I do it anyway. Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. <\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. <\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do\u2014this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans%207%3A17-20&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Romans 7:17-20 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Everyone struggles with sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My ongoing battle with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=gluttony+definition&amp;rlz=1C1KGNW_enUS821US823&amp;oq=gluttony&amp;aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l7.2642j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">gluttony<\/a>, habitual greed or excess in eating, is evident on the scale.&nbsp; Sometimes I\u2019m winning the battle and the number goes down, some days I\u2019m losing, the number goes up.&nbsp; I lead an active lifestyle. My problem isn\u2019t exercise, my problem is eating.&nbsp; I enlist accountability partners, I track calories, yet the battle rages.&nbsp; I\u2019ve accepted that this is my thorn in my side:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTherefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+12%3A7&amp;version=NIV\"><em>2 Corinthians 12:7 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul talks about the thorn in his flesh in his letter to the Corinthians.&nbsp; Three times he prays and asks God to remove it, yet He doesn\u2019t.&nbsp; Paul accepts the thorn as part of his life which helps him stay humble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever sin we struggle with, God uses it the same way in our life.
