{"id":228,"date":"2017-12-27T14:24:00","date_gmt":"2017-12-27T14:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=228"},"modified":"2019-12-10T08:44:27","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T13:44:27","slug":"word-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2017\/12\/27\/word-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Word of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em><strong><span id=\"en-NIV-16844\" class=\"text Prov-16-3\">&#8220;Commit to the\u00a0<span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>\u00a0whatever you do,<\/span><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong><span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text Prov-16-3\">and he will establish your plans.&#8221;\u00a0 Proverbs 16:3<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nMy verse is Proverbs 16:3 for 2018, my word is <em>Commitment.\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nCommitment, when defined is\u00a0the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. An engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action.\u00a0 Commitment is challenging, takes work and is always a source of growth.<br \/>\nI have to be honest, I thought I was pretty good at commitment.\u00a0 I try hard to live up to my word and do what I say I&#8217;m going to do.\u00a0 Apparently, I&#8217;m not as good as I thought I was.\u00a0 From God&#8217;s perspective He&#8217;s going to use it to grow me.<br \/>\nWhen I think of commitment, I think of Matthew 5:37:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;All you need to say is simply &#8216;Yes&#8217; or &#8216;No&#8217;; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\nWhat I&#8217;m beginning to see God outline for me isn&#8217;t that I don&#8217;t live up to my word, rather I don&#8217;t include Him in my plans.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t take time to pray before I commit.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not committing to the things God wants me to commit too.\u00a0 That is what I&#8217;m beginning to understand.<br \/>\nFor instance, one of my favorite things to do is pray over my calendar.\u00a0 I like to do it on Monday mornings.\u00a0 The problem is, I don&#8217;t do it every Monday morning.\u00a0 I do it every now and then, but when I do it always makes my week better because I know, whatever is on the agenda has already been prayed about.<br \/>\nHmmmm&#8230;.maybe that should be my spiritual goal for 2018?<br \/>\nI really don&#8217;t know what God is going to do through this word in my life.\u00a0 Is it my ministry?\u00a0 My marriage?
