{"id":2184,"date":"2020-06-09T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-09T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2184"},"modified":"2020-05-26T14:31:23","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T19:31:23","slug":"what-do-perverse-people-do-to-your-friendships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/06\/09\/what-do-perverse-people-do-to-your-friendships\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT DO PERVERSE PEOPLE DO TO YOUR FRIENDSHIPS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cA perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u201d (Proverbs 16:28 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perverse people cause conflict.&nbsp; Gossip is a tool they use.&nbsp; Someone who <a href=\"http:\/\/webstersdictionary1828.com\/Dictionary\/gossip\">gossips<\/a>: <em>One who runs from house to house, tattling and telling news; an idle tattler.&nbsp; <\/em>I think of <a href=\"https:\/\/bewitched.fandom.com\/wiki\/Gladys_Kravitz\">Gladys Kravitz<\/a> as a gossip.&nbsp; She was the nosy neighbor of Darrin and Samantha Stevens on the 1960\u2019s hit show <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bewitched\"><em>Bewitched<\/em><\/a>.&nbsp; Her character kept a close eye on what was going on in the neighborhood.&nbsp; She loved to talk about what she knew with others.&nbsp; As soon as she received a juicy tidbit, she was on the phone sharing it with whoever would listen.&nbsp; As a result, she was not the most popular person on the block.&nbsp; Neither is a perverse person who creates conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Perverse people cause conflict.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, we\u2019re the gossip.&nbsp; The song, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Xp4WKejt12Y\">\u201cTake Me to Church\u201d<\/a> by Hozier is one that saddens my heart.&nbsp; The chorus contains these words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cTake me to church<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I&#8217;ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I&#8217;ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m saddened by the words because of their truth.&nbsp; I\u2019ve sat in prayer meetings where people shared personal and private requests.&nbsp; They have opened their hearts to vulnerability.&nbsp; Only for someone to share their request outside of the group.&nbsp; Deep, deep hurt occurred.&nbsp; I\u2019ve witnessed this heart ache more than once.&nbsp; The song isn\u2019t necessarily referring to situations like this, but it is what I think of when I hear the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why are we so quick to share someone else\u2019s misery?&nbsp; I\u2019ve been guilty of gossip.&nbsp; Just this past weekend, there was a conversation lull when we were with friends.&nbsp; I thought of something I had learned juicy.
