{"id":218,"date":"2017-11-21T15:39:32","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=218"},"modified":"2019-12-10T08:44:27","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T13:44:27","slug":"season-of-thankfulness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2017\/11\/21\/season-of-thankfulness\/","title":{"rendered":"Season of Thankfulness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>&#8220;Give thanks in all circumstances&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0 1 Thessalonians 5:18<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nI love November.\u00a0 I love the Facebook challenges to post one thing you are thankful for each day of the month.\u00a0 All because the Thanksgiving holiday falls on the fourth Thursday.\u00a0 The Pilgrims began the tradition as an opportunity to thank God for their bountiful harvest.\u00a0 It was a time for them to see the fruits of their labor.\u00a0 All of the hard work they had poured into planting, nourishing and harvesting their crops.<br \/>\nI practice thankfulness daily in the form of a gratitude journal.\u00a0 I started it in January of 2014.\u00a0 It has truly transformed my life.\u00a0 It helps me put into practice Phillipians 4:6-8:<br \/>\n<em><span id=\"en-NIV-29449\" class=\"text Phil-4-6\">&#8220;Do not be anxious about anything,\u00a0but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-29450\" class=\"text Phil-4-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>And the peace of God,\u00a0which transcends all understanding,\u00a0will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><br \/>\nI start by being thankful.\u00a0 It is amazing, how no matter what circumstance you find yourself in today, you can find something to thank God for in it.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t have to thank God for the circumstance, look for the blessing IN it.<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t thank God the day my precious Cody died at the young age of 20 for the circumstance I had hoped I would never have to encounter.\u00a0 I did however thank Him for the friends and family who were there for me on that day.\u00a0 They lifted me up.\u00a0 They cared for me.\u00a0 They were God in the flesh to me as they wrapped their arms around me and let me grieve.<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t thank God for losing my job.\u00a0 I did thank Him for my husband He gave me who supported me as I started my own business as a result.<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t thank God for the car accident which totaled the car.\u00a0 I did thank Him for the insurance He had provided which covered all of the costs.<br \/>\nBad things are promised to happen.\u00a0 Jesus tells us so in John 16:33\u00a0 <em>&#8220;In this world you will have trouble.\u00a0But take heart!
