{"id":2178,"date":"2020-06-07T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-07T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2178"},"modified":"2020-05-26T12:59:04","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T17:59:04","slug":"how-are-you-upright-in-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/06\/07\/how-are-you-upright-in-heart\/","title":{"rendered":"HOW ARE YOU UPRIGHT IN HEART?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cLord, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart.\u201d (Psalm 125:4 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good intentions equals an upright heart.&nbsp; One of the prayers I pray most often: <em>&nbsp;\u201cLord, bless my efforts.\u201d&nbsp; <\/em>As I take steps of faith to follow Jesus, I pray I\u2019m heading in the right direction.&nbsp; Oftentimes, people misjudge our actions.&nbsp; They don\u2019t understand our intent is good, our actions bumbling.&nbsp; God understands the intentions of our heart.&nbsp; He blesses our efforts when our hearts are inline with His.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Good intentions equals an upright heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a knack for touching the tip of the iceberg with people.&nbsp; Unwittingly, I ask the right question that touches a nerve.&nbsp; My intent is not to harm.&nbsp; However, people aren\u2019t always receptive to the truth, nor do they want to discuss it.&nbsp; Jesus experienced the same thing in His ministry.&nbsp; People weren\u2019t receptive to His truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cJesus answered, \u201cYou say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+18%3A37&amp;version=NIV\"><em>John 18:37 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why wouldn\u2019t people want to know the truth?&nbsp; Why wouldn\u2019t they want the unconditional love of Jesus in their life? The Jews rejected the truth of Jesus.&nbsp; People reject the truth we try to speak into their lives.&nbsp; One reason, the truth is hard to accept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The truth is, none of us are perfect.&nbsp; We are all sinners.&nbsp; In order to enter into a relationship with Jesus, we have to accept these truths about ourselves.&nbsp; Admitting I have sinned isn\u2019t easy.&nbsp; When I\u2019ve offended a friend and have to apologize, it\u2019s humbling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a dog walking business.&nbsp; When I walk someone\u2019s dog, I always text a picture and update how the walk went.&nbsp; I\u2019ve forgotten twice in the last couple of weeks to text an update to one of my clients.&nbsp; The owner had to text me to make sure I walked her dog.&nbsp; I\u2019m a communication major, yet I failed at the most basic of communication.&nbsp; Admitting my faults to my client isn\u2019t easy.&nbsp; But it is necessary.&nbsp; I have to take responsibility for my actions.&nbsp; I have to tell the truth.&nbsp; My client knows my intent isn\u2019t bad.&nbsp; She understands my humanity.&nbsp; She gave me grace.&nbsp; I experienced God\u2019s goodness through my client, who gave me grace.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our intentions are what makes an upright heart.&nbsp; When we try to do good, we please God.&nbsp; We may falter in our attempts, but He knows our intent:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe Lord does not look at the things people look at.
