{"id":2154,"date":"2020-05-30T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-30T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2154"},"modified":"2020-05-18T10:22:55","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T15:22:55","slug":"who-can-keep-your-hopes-alive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/05\/30\/who-can-keep-your-hopes-alive\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO CAN KEEP YOUR HOPES ALIVE?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>\u201cSustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.\u201d (Psalm 119:116 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God keeps our hopes alive.&nbsp; His promises are what spurs us on.&nbsp; Believing God\u2019s promises holds Him accountable to His word.&nbsp; According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/resources\/dictionary-of-bible-themes\/5467-promises-divine\">Biblegateway<\/a>, God has made 5467 promises in His love letter to us.&nbsp; God fuels our hope with His mighty words.&nbsp; His promises are irrevocable and trustworthy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cGod is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind.<\/em>  <em>Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Numbers+23%3A19&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Numbers 23:19 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His faithfulness assures our hope:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLet us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews+10%3A23&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Hebrews 10:23 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His promises overflow from His goodness and glory:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAnd because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world\u2019s corruption caused by human desires.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Peter+1%3A4&amp;version=NIV\"><em>2 Peter 1:4 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>God\u2019s promises are our hope.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this time of COVID19, we need hope.&nbsp; News outlets and social media report doom and gloom predictions for our world.&nbsp; Division in our country is unrelenting.&nbsp; But those are not promises of God, they are people\u2019s perspectives. &nbsp; People\u2019s opinions destroy hope. God\u2019s word ignites hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God\u2019s promises bring peace:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+85%3A8&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Psalm 85:8 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive the hope we find in God\u2019s word, we must be obedient.&nbsp; We must listen to what His promises say in order to have the hope they offer.&nbsp; We must faithfully seek God daily to learn His promises.&nbsp; If we studied one of God\u2019s 5467 promises a day, it would take just under 15 years to complete.&nbsp; God has given us enough hope in His word to last a lifetime.&nbsp; Our job is to seek what He has already given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where does God\u2019s hope begin?&nbsp; Jesus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>For all of God\u2019s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding \u201cYes!\u201d And through Christ, our \u201cAmen\u201d (which means \u201cYes\u201d) ascends to God for his glory.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+1%3A20&amp;version=NIV\"><em>2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve been following Jesus all of my life.&nbsp; At 50 years old, I feel like I have just dipped my toes in the water.&nbsp; The hope Jesus offers is unending.&nbsp; The lessons Jesus teaches us are invaluable.&nbsp; The promise Jesus fulfills gives us life eternal.&nbsp; He overcame death so that we can too.&nbsp; Hope springs eternal in the promise filled by Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God keeps our hope alive with Jesus.
