{"id":2124,"date":"2020-05-19T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2124"},"modified":"2020-05-07T08:05:41","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T13:05:41","slug":"why-do-you-have-to-respect-authority-in-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/05\/19\/why-do-you-have-to-respect-authority-in-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO RESPECT AUTHORITY IN YOUR LIFE?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cHe said to his men, \u201cThe Lord forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the Lord\u2019s anointed, or lay my hand on him; for he is the anointed of the Lord.\u201d (1 Samuel 24:6 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You respect authority in your life because of God\u2019s sovereignty.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/webstersdictionary1828.com\/Dictionary\/Sovereign\">Sovereign means<\/a> <em>supreme in power; possessing supreme dominion; as a sovereign ruler of the universe.<\/em>&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/webstersdictionary1828.com\/Dictionary\/supreme\">Supreme<\/a>, in this definition means <em>highest in authority; holding the highest place in government or power. <\/em>Therefore, God\u2019s sovereignty means He is the ultimate authority for all of us.&nbsp; In other words, God knows who the President is.&nbsp; God knows who your boss is.&nbsp; God knows who your teachers are.&nbsp; God knows who the people are in your life who have authority over you.&nbsp; And He expects you to respect them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThen Jesus said to them, &#8220;Give back to Caesar what is Caesar&#8217;s and to God what is God&#8217;s.&#8221; And they were amazed at him.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark+12%3A17&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Mark 12:17 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You respect authority in your life because of God\u2019s sovereignty.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David understood God\u2019s sovereignty.&nbsp; Today\u2019s scripture comes after a pivotal moment in his life.&nbsp; Saul, King of Israel, is trying to kill David.&nbsp; He is in a cave, relieving himself.&nbsp; David sneaks into the cave and cuts off a corner of the King\u2019s robe.&nbsp; David felt remorse for disrespecting the Lord\u2019s anointed one.&nbsp; David understood, God had placed Saul in authority.&nbsp; When he disrespected Saul, he disrespected God.&nbsp; David felt this way, even though Saul was actively trying to kill him.&nbsp; David respected Saul because of God\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all struggle with people who have authority over us.
