{"id":2086,"date":"2020-05-08T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=2086"},"modified":"2020-04-27T08:45:41","modified_gmt":"2020-04-27T13:45:41","slug":"what-has-the-power-to-destroy-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/05\/08\/what-has-the-power-to-destroy-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"WHAT HAS THE POWER TO DESTROY YOUR LIFE?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cA heart at peace gives life to the body,&nbsp; but envy rots the bones.\u201d (Proverbs 14:30 NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Envy has the power to destroy your life.&nbsp; It will rot your bones, and cause you untold strife.&nbsp; But a heart at peace gives life to the body.&nbsp; We all suffer from envy.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/andystanley.com\/\">Andy Stanley,<\/a> in a message on envy years ago, helped me identify envy in my life.&nbsp; I couldn\u2019t find that message, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Od-4Qf0mbuU\">here <\/a>is another one of his messages on envy that is just as impactful.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andy used this phrase:&nbsp; \u201cIt must be nice.\u201d&nbsp; When you find yourself saying, \u201cIt must be nice\u2026\u201d about something, that is a sign of envy.&nbsp; It must be nice to be married to that person.&nbsp; It must be nice to have that job.&nbsp; It must be nice to make that much money.&nbsp; It must be nice to live there.&nbsp; It must be nice to have such good kids.&nbsp; It must be nice\u2026&nbsp; Envy has the power to destroy your life, but \u201cIt must be nice\u2026\u201d has the power to save it.&nbsp; Identifying your envy can help you find peace in your heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Identifying your envy can help you find peace in your heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Envy is wanting something we don\u2019t have that we feel we deserve.&nbsp; In reality, we don\u2019t deserve anything.&nbsp; We don\u2019t deserve to be born in America, we don\u2019t deserve to have a democratic society that allows us freedom of religion and speech.&nbsp; Those are gifts from God that He gave us, just by being born in the United States.&nbsp; People around the globe are envious that we live in America.&nbsp; And we in America are envious of those around us who we perceive have a better life than us.&nbsp; Envy is a battle we all fight, but when we focus our eyes on Jesus, we\u2019ll find peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peace in our heart comes from being content with what we have, no matter what:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. <\/em><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><em>I can do all this through him who gives me strength.\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Philippians+4%3A12-13&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Phil. 4:12-13 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contentment can only come when we center our hearts on Jesus.
