\u201cThe Lord replied, \u201cMy Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.\u201d \u00a0Exodus 33:14<\/strong><\/em>
\nIn four more sleeps I go on vacation. \u00a0My sister-in-law always uses that phrase when she is close to hers. \u00a0I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever appreciated it as much as I do this year.
\nI don\u2019t like to wish time away. \u00a0Each day is like a snowflake, individual, unique, never to be another one exactly like it. I typically don\u2019t count down the days, I like to live in the moment. \u00a0This year, I\u2019m counting down the days. \u00a0I can hardly wait for an entire week of unplugging.
\nDon\u2019t get me wrong. \u00a0I\u2019ll have wifi. \u00a0I\u2019m really looking forward to doing some writing. \u00a0There will probably be a facebook post here and there. \u00a0But I won\u2019t be working…
\nI won\u2019t answer emails. \u00a0I won\u2019t teach tennis lessons. \u00a0I won\u2019t be walking dogs.
\nI love all of those things, but I\u2019m ready for a break. \u00a0I love all of the people I have met doing all of those things. \u00a0I love being a part of their lives, but I recognize, like Jesus, I need to take some time away with God to be able to love them the way I want to love them:
\n\u201cBut Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.\u201d \u00a0 Luke 5:16<\/i>
\nI doubt I\u2019ll be lonely. \u00a0I\u2019ll be with my best friend, my husband. I can\u2019t wait to have him all to myself. \u00a0We\u2019ll be surrounded by people, none of whom I will know. \u00a0I\u2019m looking forward to meeting them and hearing their stories.
\nOne of my favorite pastors, Mark Batterson always says:
\n\u201dChange of pace + change of place= change of perspective\u201d
\nI can\u2019t wait to experience it. \u00a0I\u2019m excited for my new perspective. \u00a0I can\u2019t wait to see what God will do with this time of rest. How it will set the course for my next year.
