{"id":1868,"date":"2020-03-01T03:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.honestreflections.net\/?p=1868"},"modified":"2020-02-18T08:04:06","modified_gmt":"2020-02-18T13:04:06","slug":"who-can-do-what-you-cant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.honestreflections.net\/index.php\/2020\/03\/01\/who-can-do-what-you-cant\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO CAN DO WHAT YOU CAN\u2019T?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cJesus looked at them and said, \u201cWith man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.\u201d (Mark 10: 27 NIV).<\/em><\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God can do what you can\u2019t.&nbsp; However, just because He can, doesn\u2019t mean He will.&nbsp; What we think we want and what is actually best for us are two different things.&nbsp; We have limited perspective on the situation, only God knows the full story (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Corinthians+13%3A9-12&amp;version=NIV\">1 Cor. 13:9 NIV<\/a>).&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m currently studying the book of Acts.&nbsp; This morning I saw something I had never seen before when I read this verse:&nbsp; <strong><em>&nbsp;\u201c<\/em><\/strong><em>I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me\u201d (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Acts+20%3A23&amp;version=NIV\"><em>Acts 20:23 NIV<\/em><\/a><em>).&nbsp; <\/em>Paul is speaking, he\u2019s about to depart from Ephesus for Jerusalem.&nbsp; And he knows, wherever he goes, he is going to face hardships and prison.&nbsp; Yet he is going.  This verse convicted me instantly this morning of my selfishness.&nbsp; God can do what we can\u2019t, but that doesn\u2019t mean He will.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>God can do what we can\u2019t, but that doesn\u2019t mean He will.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This morning, before I had read that verse I had just written in my journal.\u00a0 \u201cLord, I pray this is a good day filled with nothing but good news.&#8221;\u00a0 Then I read this verse and felt humbled.  Paul\u2019s words instantly reminded me that in this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart, God has overcome the world (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+16%3A33&amp;version=NIV\">John 16:33 NIV<\/a>).\u00a0 Does that mean we can\u2019t still pray for good days?\u00a0 Of course we can.  But that doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019ll have a good day.\u00a0 We will face prisons and hardships wherever we go.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our prisons are different from Paul\u2019s.&nbsp; In today\u2019s world, a lot of the prisons and hardships we live in we create ourselves: debt, insecurity, jealousy, unforgiveness, rebellious hearts, selfishness.&nbsp; Our humanity will always be a source of constant battle, the flesh against the Holy Spirit (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Galatians+5%3A17&amp;version=NIV\">Gal. 5:17 NIV<\/a>).&nbsp; But this is where God really can help us find victory, when we yield to the Holy Spirit.&nbsp; At the end of my journal entry this morning, I wrote those words, \u201cLord, may I always yield to Your Spirit.\u201d&nbsp; I\u2019m praying for a good day.  God can give me a good day.  But that doesn\u2019t mean it will be a good day.
