\nYesterday my husband and I experienced our fifth flat tire together. \u00a0It was on I-95 near Fredericksburg, VA. \u00a0Just before the exit. \u00a0It was nerve racking. \u00a0The cars and trucks were flying by so fast. \u00a0No one stopped, of course. \u00a0A police officer came by just as we were finishing up. \u00a0Gratefully it was on the passenger side, which meant away from the traffic. \u00a0God protected us, we changed it and were able to get back on the road.
\nWe had been traveling for approximately two hours at this point. \u00a0It was our third obstacle in a short time. \u00a0We\u2019d had a trucker pull us over because he felt our bikes were not secure on the back of the trailer. \u00a0Which they were. \u00a0Then a piece of trim on our Fifth Wheel had come loose and was flopping in the wind, which had to be tucked back into the frame. \u00a0Third was the flat tire.
\nFor the first time in our RVing life I wanted to turn around and go back home. \u00a0It just seemed like too much. \u00a0I was afraid of what would happen next.
\nMy husband though, said something which changed my perspective. \u00a0We had gotten back on the road. \u00a0I was recapping to him all of the flat tires I had experienced since being married to him. \u00a0I had worked for 16 years as a Merchandise Coordinator with Nautica. \u00a0During that time I averaged 50,000 plus miles a year driving. \u00a0Gratefully, not once did I have a flat tire. \u00a0God\u2019s grace on my life. \u00a0Since being married to Ron, in five years we\u2019ve had five flats.
\nI\u2019d rather have a flat with my husband, than none by myself.
\nI was focused on the negative side of having a flat tire when \u00a0he shared his philosophy with me. \u00a0He has always been \u201cflat tire\u201d prone. \u00a0He told me he has learned flat tires are a part of life. \u00a0When you experience as many as he has, you learn to just deal with it and move on. \u00a0You don\u2019t let it ruin your day. \u00a0You take the bad with the good.
\nHe\u2019s right. \u00a0Flat tires are a part of life. \u00a0Whether it\u2019s an actual flat tire, a job loss or a something even worse. \u00a0It happens. \u00a0Jesus tells us in John 16:33 it\u2019s going to happen. \u00a0Take heart though, He is with you in all things. He has overcome whatever it is. \u00a0Even death.
\nWe have to learn to deal with it and keep going. \u00a0I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s going to be easy. \u00a0I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s going to be immediate. \u00a0I am saying God is with you. \u00a0He will help you keep going. \u00a0He will send people and events into your life which will spur you on.
\nJust like my husband spurred me on yesterday when I wanted to give up.
