\u201cHow do you do it?\u201d Our neighbor asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKeep it simple,\u201d I said, the first words that came to my mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As RVers, we loved weekend getaways, especially when we lived in the city. Every other weekend, we would head out to a country destination where we could build a campfire, gaze at the stars, and enjoy the Lord\u2019s creation. Because we couldn\u2019t park our RV where we lived, Ron would pick it up the night before from storage so we could pack it for the weekend ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When my neighbor asked how we did it, I had arms full of supplies for the trailer. She had noticed our regular weekend travels and wanted to know our secret to getting away so often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping life simple opens the door for adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camping reminds us of all the things we don\u2019t need. Believe it or not, you can live without wifi and a constant connection to the global world. The luxuries of home really boil down to a roof over our heads, a place to sleep, and food to eat. You don\u2019t need much money to enjoy the beauty of creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a trip to Maine this summer, we had a young married couple as neighbors. Driving a truck, they pitched a tent, blew up an air mattress, and cooked over the open flames, having the time of their lives. The entire weekend cost them less than $100, but they had star-filled nights, sun-kissed days, and a Savior who never left their side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we keep our lives free from the love of money, we find contentment with what we have. Whether a tent with an air mattress or an RV with a bed, both give us what we need: a place to rest our heads. Biblical contentment finds satisfaction in what we have today, and trusts God will provide tomorrow\u2019s needs. Our circumstances don\u2019t determine the Lord\u2019s faithfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the simplest of terms, our security comes from the Savior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He provides all our needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And He goes where we go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circumstances can change. Bank accounts can change. Possessions come and go. People disappoint us, and plans fall apart. But the Lord\u2019s presence never changes. Whatever we face, He faces it with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
