<\/a>Power to Resist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Submit yourselves therefore to God.\u00a0Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

James 4:7<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submission differs from obedience.  We must surrender our will to God before we can become obedient to His commands.  A master at manipulation and deceit, the enemy doesn\u2019t stand a chance when we submit ourselves to the Lord, using His power to resist the devil\u2019s ploys.  Without submission, we can\u2019t have victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFirst pride, then the crash, the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prov. 16:18 MSG<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our egos get us in more trouble than anything else.\u00a0 Because we don\u2019t submit, we become disobedient and lose access to the Lord\u2019s power.\u00a0 The enemy knows and uses our weakness to his advantage, making us think we can do or handle something in our strength, not submit ourselves to the Lord.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the garden, the serpent spoke to Eve\u2019s ego, \u201cDid God actually say, \u2018You shall not eat of any tree in the garden\u2019?\u201d (Genesis 3:1).  <\/em>Eve\u2019s will or God\u2019s?  Our will or the Lord\u2019s?  Making us question the Lord\u2019s commands and focus on our will instead of God\u2019s causes us to fall.  \u201cFor God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.\u201d (Genesis 3:5).  <\/em>Eve fell for the devil\u2019s ploys because she submitted to her will, not God\u2019s, desiring to become like the Creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have a choice; God gives us free will.\u00a0 The question remains the same as it did initially: my will or the Lord\u2019s?\u00a0 If we want to become obedient to Christ, we must first submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God gives us the power to resist when we submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lord, thank You for giving us the power to resist the devil’s temptations when we submit our lives to You.\u00a0 Help us to keep You at the forefront of our minds, not letting our egos stop us from submitting to Your will.\u00a0 Give our hearts the desire to follow You, becoming more and more obedient each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
